Local card room error!

ok i found a major problem with a local card room in new hampshire. Every year they host several events that make up the new england poker championship. It is a great series for this part of the country. The events played are no-limit hold-em, seven card stud and pot limit omaha. This year 3 no limit events had the highest turn out. Now they pay 10 to 12 percent of the field prize money. Also the top 13 finishers receive points on where they finish. The player that earns the most points over the series is crowned the new england champion. This is where i am having some issues with the tournament directors. The guy that won the championship made the final table in all 5 events. That is a great accomplishment in its self and i am taking nothing from his great run . But here is the issue im having. The winner was given the out rite win in two of the events. Meaning that the players chopped up the money based on the deal they agreed to and he took the top points in each event. I agree 100% on chopping deals and that the players should do what they wish with the money but i do have a problem with not playing down to the end for the points. Just giving away the points because you got some extra money hurts any chances of this event series gaining any notoriety what so ever. It truly hurts the integrity of the so called tittle. You may think i sound bitter and to be totally honest i am. i played in three events and final tabled 2 times. i could not play 2 of them due to work obligations. or i would have. those finishes for me put me in 3rd place in the point standings at the time of the start of the 4th event which i finished 18th. No one "gave me points" i earned every last one of them. The player that won the over all championship was just handed points because the remaining players did not want to fight for the tittle. This is NOT the players fault that won the over all championship. It falls completely on the shoulders of the poker room staff and all of the directors for allowing a championship to just be given out for not even truly earning it. I think it should have been played out to the end of each event to truly determine the true winner and have the appropriate points handed out accordingly. This event was held in new hampshire. Not a power house state when it comes to poker playing. But it is a growing "sport" and the room has a player pool of over 44,000 players. How is this room ever going to have any prestige for its championships if there not ever really earned at all. What would we say as poker fans if we were watching the final table of the world series of poker and all of a sudden they chopped up the money and just gave the chip leader the tittle. We would never watch it again. Now comparing the wsop to the new england championship held in new hampshire in crazy. But i know it will never and i mean never "mean " anything to a poker player if it is just given away. We need to grow our sport and have our titles be as prestige's as they can be. no matter where there held. We need standards and a better system. In my opinion play the tournament to the end for the points. Do what ever you want with the money just earn the championship the rite way. Once more this is by no means a shot at the winner. He played great in all of the events. i tip my cap for making all those final tables. I do say shame on the staff for letting the integrity of the game get lost in the shuffle of dollars.

Last night I got word from dwite pilgram. He called me his friend. I sat next to him at the last wpt event at Foxwoods . He was watching his friend play heads up for a preliminary tittle. I should have spoke to him and gotten a picture with him. But he looked busy. I did not want to invade is space. I mean he could have had a piece of his man. But I tweeted back and I'm trying to set up an interview for next Saturday . So cool speaking with the beast from the east!

Well I'm not in a great mood. My new England patriots have lost the super bowl once again to the mighty giants.Now most of the time i would just bitch and moan over a lost bet on the home team but this loss is going to hurt even more. You see i made a bet with a great friend. The kind of bet that when you win it, feels better than any pile of cash. My bet was looser has to wear the winning teams hat for a week. Can you believe that i have to wear a giants hat for a week! Shore i have lost some bets in my day. Loosing 20k to jungleman12 heads up on tilt comes to mind. But nothing burns more than a giants hat on my head. so if you see me around the poker room or just out and about slap me. i mean it slap me for taking this bet. Or better yet just point and laff that will hurt twice as much. congrats Richie on your win......................you suck.

Support your local dealer. I make it a point to tell new players to MAKE SHURE YOU TIP AFTER YOU DRAG A POT. Most dealers keep there tips and some pool them. Either way just tip when you win a pot or when your session is over. Keep in mind that if you tip at the end of your session all prior dealers  DONT receive a thing . The best thing to do is throw the guy/gal a buck after you win......................This is for cash games.
